is an artistic project in the form of a nomadic art gallery started at the end of 2010 by Dragos Olea together with now late visual artist Ioana Nemes with the aim to test and expand the limits and the way art market works and how artists can twist and bend the rules and expectations on how a gallery could function within the market sphere.
KILOBASE BUCHAREST is interested in exploring three main topics: economics, queer and Bucharest.
Projects: KILOBASE BUCHAREST A-H ( Published by Mousse Publishing) for the “Image to be projected until it vanishes” exhibition at Museion in Bolzano, Italy, May - August 2011, later showed in “LE CATALOGUE ET SES HYBRIDES #1”, École des beaux-arts, Toulouse, France (28-30 October 2011), “LE CATALOGUE ET SES HYBRIDES #2”, Le Moinsun, Paris, France (27-29 April, 2012) and in “invisible transfer of signals (for ioana nemes)” ArtPoint Gallery, Kulturkontakt, Vienna, Austria (April 19 – June 06, 2012). The most recent KILOBASE BUCHAREST projects include a participation to Viennafair 2013 and curating the “œconomy, an already tumultuous landscape where phantasms cross” exhibition at Oberwelt in Stutgart, Germany (dec 6 – 30, 2013.
Dragos Olea is also member for the Apparatus 22 collective together with Maria Farcas and Erika Olea.
Apparatus 22 works since 2011 in the art context with ideas and actions that will ignite the critical potential of clothing and fashion and unveil outstanding narratives of such topics.
After taking part in exhibitions and art festivals at MUMOK, Viena (AT), The Contemporary Art Gallery, Brukenthal Museum, Sibiu(RO), MAK, Vienna (AT), Steirischer Herbst, Graz (AT), Museion Bolzano(IT), Akademie Schloss Solitude, Stuttgart (DE), Salonul de Proiecte, Bucharest (RO), TIME MACHINE BIENNIAL OF CONTEMPORARY ART, Konjic (BIH), Trafo Gallery, Budapest (HU), Futura, Prague (CZ) their work is currently on show in Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle, Warsaw (PL) and MNAC, Bucharest (RO) etc. The collective took part also in the “Reflection Center for Suspended Histories.
