Jana Beňová (1974, Bratislava) is a poet, novelist and journalist. She studied dramaturgy at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava. At the age of 19 she published collection of poems Svetloplachý (Photophobia, 1993), which was followed by another two collections. Her debut novel Parker (1999) premiered at the Frankfurt Book Fair to critical acclaim. She was awarded the European Union Prize for Literature for her second novel, Plán odprevádzania. Café Hyena (Seeing people off: Café hyena, 2008). The fallowed one Preč! Preč! (Get off! Get off!, 2012) was published by Residenz Verlag under the title Abhauen. "Essentially, this terse, fast novel is a revolution against normality.” Wrote in a review for ORF about it C. Hell. The most recent novel – Honeymoon - was published in 2015. |
